Pesticides

What are pesticides? They are agents that kill, control, or repel undesirable and sometimes harmful organisms, such as insects in our gardens.

Unfortunately, many pesticides contain chemicals that negatively impact the health of humans. According to the Maine CDC, Mainers used 1.8 million pounds of pesticides in their lawns and gardens in 2000 (From Healthy Maine 2010: Opportunities for All).

Learn the facts about pesticides, their impact on the environment, and what you should do if you or someone else is exposed.
